The East of England Agricultural Society,( which runs the East of England Show which takes place this July at the Peterborough Showground), aims to keep you up to date with the latest news and information about the Society's work, in an aim to promote and support:-
Described as the region’s leading countryside and lifestyle show - The East of England Show – is returning to its farming roots at the East of England Showground on 19th, 20th and 21st June 2009.
This
Show will be a celebration of all things rural. Livestock classes
will be building on last year’s success and anticipating even higher
levels of entries this year. The Show has always attracted some of
the country’s finest livestock and the standard just seems to
improve every year.
Horses of all sizes will be on display throughout the Show as always. Heavy horses and Show Jumping will be returning to the main arena this year, so look forward to an action packed equestrian timetable for spectators in the Grandstand.
Vintage
agricultural machinery, steam and classic cars will have a larger
section this year and the demonstrations and parades by these
magnificent machines will be a treat for all nostalgia buffs.
Food remains at the heart of the Show and once again the
children’s Pizza Kitchen to instruct children on how their food gets
from the farm to their plate in a hands on way. The Food Hall will
contain many of the region’s best food and drink producers, selling
their delicious produce. You will also be able to gain inspiration
in the food demonstration theatre, while on Friday the finalists in
the School Food Challenge will amaze you with their skills as they
battle it out for this prestigious trophy.
Few will be able to resist the Peterborough International Orchid Show, which will be open on all three days of the Show, this year. As well as the fabulous orchids themselves and exhibitors coming from around the World, there will be a photographic competition, as well as displays of scientific and historical paintings.
There is plenty of opportunity for retail therapy, with over 400 retail stands to choose from, including lifestyle and fashion, a craft fair and the Food Hall.
